Here are few tips when dealing with a bout of food poisoning:
1. Stop eating for 24 hours.
2. Drink gingerale.
3. Eat Jello and popscicles.
4. Take Kyolic garlic capsules (2 capsules 2x per day) - garlic kills bacteria.
5. Take Activated Charcoal capsules (2 capsules 2x per day) - charcoal binds to poisons and delivers them safely out of the body.
6. Smoke Pot- Marijuana alleviates nausea so you can at least hydrate yourself. If marijuana is not medicinally legal in your state, write to you representatives and tell them you support the legalization of medicinal marijuana.
7. Report it. If you live in NYC, call (212) 720-7130 and speak to an epidemiologist. Most people have good instinct when it comes to identifying what exactly has poisoned them or where it happened.
8. Go to the Doctor and have them take a stool culture. These are some common bacteria that cause food poisoning:
• Bacillus cereus
• Botulism
• Campylobacter
• Cholera
• E. coli
• Listeria
• Staphylococcus aureus
• Salmonella
• Shigella
• Yersinia
9. Once you start feeling better, follow the "BRAT" diet. It's a funny acronym for bananas, rice, applesauce and toast (gluten free).
10. Make Congee. It's a simple to make rice soup. Add 2 T of white rice to 1 1/2 cups of water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 30-40 minutes.
