I've come down with a head cold the past few days. Here is one of the preparations that I'm using to nurse myself back to health. I'm using garlic since it's a powerhouse as far as its anti-bacterial action. I'm extracting garlic's properties with vegetable glycerin, a food grade substance that is a by-product of soap making. It doesn't taste at all like soap though. It's quite sweet.
Tools:
A chopstick
2.5 oz glass jar (baby food jars do the trick)
cutting board
small sharp knife
Ingredients:
1 head of garlic
1 oz vegetable glycerin
1 oz water
Peel and chop the garlic into small pieces. Place into the glass jar. In a pyrex measuring cup add water and glycerin (I use a shot glass to measure 1 oz of each). Stir until well blended. Pour over top of the garlic and cap. The extraction takes place fast so no need to wait 6 weeks to decant the solution. I've been using a tincture bottle dropper to use the medicine now. Enjoy.
